Upcoming Programs at the Museum House
Tuesday - Feb. 21st - 7:30 PM "Dover's Disasters - Updated"
This is one of the most popular and most requested programs of the Dover Area Historical Society. Stan Schoonmaker has collected hundreds of photographs of Dover's great fires, floods, train accidents, blizzards and much, much more in this one hour program. Since the last presentation of this program, new disasters have been added including severe flooding from Hurricane Irene and the surprise October 2011 snow storm. This program is also available on DVD. Program at the Dover History Museum House at 55 West Blackwell Street in Dover. No charge and refreshments will be served.
Tuesday - Mar. 20th - 7:30 PM "History Of Dover's Schools"
Former Assistant School Superintendent and Vice President of the Dover Area Historical Society, Stan Schoonmaker is an expert on Dover's School District since the first school was established in 1796. Stan displays a wealth of information through photographs, documents, deeds, etc. charting the districts long successful history. Program at the Dover History Museum House at 55 West Blackwell Street in Dover. No charge. Refreshments served.
Tuesday - Apr. 17th - 7:30 PM "Bon-Ton Movie Night"
In memory of Dover's first motion picture house, the 1906 Bon-Ton Theater, the Dover Historical Society presents "Bon-Ton Movie Night." Every April, Bob Wagner, digs into his vast collection of classic movies and treats everyone to a classic surprise. Movie at the Dover History Museum House at 55 West Blackwell Street in Dover. No charge. Refreshments will be served. Call 973-361-3525 to find out the name of this year's movie.
Tuesday - May 15th - 7:30 PM "History Of The Blackwell Street National Historic District"
This program traces the history of Dover's roots back to 1816 when Joseph Blackwell and Henry McFarlan took over the Dover Iron Works. Program at the Dover History Museum House at 55 West Blackwell Street. No charge. Refreshments served.
Sunday - Jun. 10th - 9:00 AM TO 4:00 PM "10th Annual Townwide Yard Sale At The Dover Flea Market"
A $30 donation to the Dover Historical Society buys a spot at the popular Dover Flea Market for the entire day. This is one of the most popular yard sales in the Dover area. For an application form call Betty at 973-366-0629.
